June 15, 2025 UPDATED 12:17 AM. GMT+8

ASI Global will officially launch the first book of its brand-new Hello, Hanzi Book Series at the 2025 Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF), with a dedicated release event on Saturday, June 21, from 10:00 to 10:50 AM at the China National Convention Center. The event will serve as a platform for cross-cultural dialogue, bringing together educators, scholars, and publishing professionals to explore how Chinese characters can foster deeper cultural understanding and connection in a global context. As the most influential book exhibition platform in China and the most international book fair in Asia, BIBF offers the ideal stage to present this innovative series to readers around the world.

Hello, Hanzi Book Series

Published by Sino-Culture Press and developed by The Editorial Committee of the “ZiChuang” Cultural Project of ASI Global, the Hello, Hanzi Series is a five-volume collection designed to introduce global learners to the richness and relevance of Chinese characters in modern life. The five progressive volumes—Basic Life, Social Integration, Social Interaction, Workplace in China, and Chinese Culture—explore high-frequency characters through thematic units based on real-life scenarios, from everyday interaction to professional and cultural immersion.

The series is intended for university students, young adults outside China, and those preparing to study in China, particularly learners with no prior exposure to Chinese characters (Hanzi). By combining visual storytelling, AI technology, and cultural context, the series offers an intuitive and engaging entry point into Chinese characters from a global perspective.

Throughout the development of the Hello, Hanzi series, the ASI Global editorial team led the creative direction of the project, working in close consultation with a network of professional advisors to support its broader vision of cultural exchange. We would like to extend our special thanks to Prof. Bradd Shore, Professor Emeritus at Emory University, and Dr. Yukteshwar Kumar, Senior Lecturer at the University of Bath, for their thoughtful engagement and cross-cultural perspectives, which have provided valuable insights into the shaping and ongoing development of the series.

Mobile Interface of the “ZiChuang” Chinese Character Culture Platform

Alongside the book series, the “ZiChuang” Chinese Character Culture Platform was also developed to expand learning beyond the page, to offer a more interactive and immersive learning experience. By scanning QR codes embedded in the books, readers can access pronunciation and writing tutorials, short videos (live-action and animated), scenario-based guides, and interactive mini-games. The platform also connects learners through social media channels such as rednote and TikTok (@hellohanzitutor), encouraging engagement and dialogue in digital spaces.

Hanzi Connect Mini-Game

The Hello, Hanzi series is a key cultural project of ASI Global, reflecting our ongoing commitment to fostering meaningful cross-cultural understanding. The launch at BIBF 2025 will mark the official release of the first book, with the remaining books scheduled for publication by 2026. With this project, we hope to offer a culturally grounded perspective on contemporary China, viewed through a global lens, and to encourage a deeper appreciation of the ideas and experiences embedded in Chinese characters.
